Local and national community leaders, representatives from various cancer agencies and individuals devoted to finding a cure for cancer volunteer as members of the Community Advisory Board to assist the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center with several initiatives including:

• Working with the federal, state and legislative branches to enhance the Center’s position for the funding of clinical and research activity.
• Contributing to the center’s community profile through personal contacts and participation in special events and educational activities.
• Planning and implementing strategies for fundraising efforts on behalf of the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center.
